For this project, I was commissioned to illustrate 3 unique posters that celebrate the countries that Paystack has headquarters in, namely, Ghana, South Africa & Nigeria. The illustrations are made up of three basic components: a figure at the forefront, an architectural landmark and indigenous patterns native to those regions.
For Nigeria, the illustration is a celebration of afrobeats, while also showcasing Nsibidi and Hausa symbols and the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge. For Ghana, the illustration showcases our famous masqueraders, with the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum tucked in the back and some minimal kente patterns. Lastly for South Africa, our figure is a vibrant Pantsula dancer, with the Soweto Towers, all surrounded by Dembele patterns.
The company was commissioned by Not to Scale for Dove Galaxy to create illustrations that would be used in a mixed media animation showcasing the brands commitment to supporting the farmers and communities that make their signature product. I was commissioned by Den&CO to work on unique and vibrant labels for their chili sauces. Full creative control was given when undertaking this project. The illustrations are all literal depictions of the names of the sauces, and also of multifaceted Ghanaian women.
With “Honey Money Mustard” we are inspired by the aesthetics of “Dollar Sign” by Andy Warhol, to help signify opulence, wealth, “money”’, and our woman of choice is a Ghanaian “rich auntie’. With “Lava Lover”, we bring the heat and a touch of sensuality with our fiery woman engulfed in flames. Lastly with “Chill Chili” we went with the zen and greenery of plants, surrounding a young Ghanaian skateboarder. The types used were a mixture of hand-drawn fonts and sourced fonts.

This client requested the company to create the brand identity and campaign posters for Ghanaian singer Efya’s debut album. Full creative control was given in the undertaking of this project. The choice to use bold colours was very much in line with the bold emotions the artist expressed in her music. We were inspired by the iconic David Bowie thunderbolt for the album cover, and gave the singer a single tear. The campaign consisted of release day posters, album cover and track list art, album booklet and social media banner designs.

A poster submission I made for David Annertey's VERNACULAR. In his own words, VERNACULAR seeks to expose people to vernacular designs and aesthetics. It also seeks to document, experiment and show various means by which these vernacular aesthetics can be incorporated and adapted into our contemporary design language as a whole so as to give Ghanaian aesthetics and design a face in the world of design.
